Great FREE bulb giveaway in Yeovil

THE great bulb giveaway is here and once again with tulip and spring bedding bulbs being given away to the public in Yeovil for free on Friday, June 7.

You may have noticed that South Somerset District Council’s horticultural staff have been busy clearing the tulips and spring bedding from the flower beds around Yeovil.

As in the past four years, South Somerset District Council will be giving bulbs and bedding plants away in St Johns Churchyard, Yeovil, at 9am. This is an excellent way to recycle bulbs and help make your gardens colourful.

This year the bulbs will already be packed into bags by members of the Yeovil in Bloom committee, to allow more residents to take bulbs home.

Yeovil in Bloom officer, Lesley Jelleyman, said: ‘’This is a great way for residents to recycle our old bedding bulbs and help to make their gardens look beautiful. Like in the past 4 years, we expect to see a large crowd of people wanting to come and collect some of the bulbs.”

The Yeovil in Bloom initiative is managed and funded by Yeovil Town Council, and delivered with the support of South Somerset District Council.

Chairman of the steering group, Cllr David Recardo, added: “This year the committee are mindful of the pressure put on the workers while giving away the bulbs, as a team we have come together as a group to bag up the bulbs to make the process safer and easier to administer.

‘’We hope the bulbs will give the people of Yeovil the same pleasure in their gardens, as they have in the flowerbeds around the town.”
