He was taken to Yeovil District Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The police this afternoon released a statement from Tom’s family in which they said his death had left a ‘big hole’ for everyone who knew him.

‘’Tom was a much loved son and brother to his family and was a much respected friend to many people in the village,’’ the family statement read.

‘’He worked at Bathwick Tyres in Yeovil where he worked hard and earned a lot of respect for himself.

‘’He will be very sadly missed and has left a big hole in many people's hearts and the community."

Police are still appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident on Sunday to come forward.

‘’We’d like to speak to anyone who witnessed this collision or the motorcyclist prior to what happened,’’ said a police spokesman.

Anyone who can help is asked to call the police collision investigation unit on 101.
