Club members dedicated to the craft are invited to make legwarmers along with thousands of home knitters to fundraise for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and its work.

Senior corporate and Trust fundraising manager for the charity, Sue Piper said: “We’re hoping hundreds of wonderful legwarmers will be knitted and these will then be sold by one of our corporate supporters, trampoline supplier Super Tramp, on our behalf to help raise money for us.

“Legwarmers are great for garden trampolinists as they help keep their ankles warm in the cooler months. The only proviso is we would like them to be made of natural fibres because otherwise they can create too much static when bouncing.”

Super Tramp is offering clubs a free pattern created by knitwear designer, Rebecca Peach to make the legwarmers. It can be downloaded or printed off by visiting www.supertramp.co.uk .

Chris Prentis, managing director of Super Tramp, explained: “Once the legwarmers are knitted we are asking people to send them back in so that they can be sold via our website with all proceeds going to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which is our Charity of the Year.”

Super Tramp was founded more than 25 years ago when it introduced the first garden trampolines into the UK.

Back in the 1980s the family-run business was pioneering, now it is seen as one of the nation’s best-known suppliers of trampolines to retailers and consumers.

The Cystic Fibrosis Trust wishes to highlight the health benefits of bouncing to cystic fibrosis sufferers, of which there around 10,000 in the UK. Super Tramp will help raise funds for the charity this year.

Sue added: “We know that families with children who have cystic fibrosis often use trampolines as a fun way to help them do their daily physio and we’re delighted to be part of this whacky challenge to the nation’s knitters.”
