Let them eat cake and support the NRAS

COULD there be a more enjoyable way to raise awareness of a serious medical condition than to have tea and cake with friends and family?Let them eat cake and support the NRAS

The Yeovil support group of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society is calling on people to do just that by hosting a tea party to raise awareness of rheumatoid arthritis.

The aim of the NRAS tea party campaign is to get people to host their own social gathering where they can eat cake, drink tea and enjoy time with friends, colleagues, neighbours or family. More seriously though, the occasion can be used as an opportunity to raise awareness of a disease that affects about one percent of the population, many of whom are still of working age and three quarters are women.

The Yeovil NRAS support group is part of a network of forty groups across the UK, all set up to offer information and advice to people at a local level on the health and social care support that is available.

They also provide an opportunity for people affected by rheumatoid arthritis to get together and share experiences.

There are plenty ideas on how to host a tea party on the NRAS website and to give people a helping hand, recipes have kindly been supplied by celebrity chefs including Greg Wallace and Lorraine Pascale.
