Garden waste collections start again

GARDEN waste collections are now being made again as usual in Yeovil and South Somerset.Garden waste collections start again

The Somerset Waste Partnership suspended collections across the county last Friday (Jan 25) in South Somerset, Mendip and Taunton Deane because of the backlog it was experiencing due to the bad weather conditions.

But garden waste collections resumed in Taunton Deane on Monday, while they started again in South Somerset yesterday (Wednesday) and today in Mendip.

A spokesman for SWP said: “We will not be able to return for collections not made during the suspension.

“Quantities of garden waste put out were low, as normal for the time of year, and so the collection crews and vehicles have been working instead in helping clear the backlog of missed refuse collections due to the bad weather.”
