HAVING worked as a nurse in Somerset for more than ten years, Yeovil mum Kristina Wood (pictured) is well used to caring for people and responding to their needs.Kristina is cleaning up in Yeovil with Bright & Beautiful

Now she will be putting her many skills to a new test by launching her own domestic cleaning and homecare business, Bright & Beautiful in Yeovil.

Kristina, 45, has worked as a nurse since 1989, working on haematology and chemotherapy wards in Yeovil and Taunton.  Most recently she was in charge of the treatment room at Yeovil Hospital, helping to manage a team of nurses delivering chemotherapy.

Kristina, who is mum to teenagers Ella and Rob, will now be running her own team of professional housekeepers and managing her clients’ homes with Bright & Beautiful, the new and improved face of domestic homecare that is delivering eco-friendly cleaning, tidying, laundry and ironing.

Kristina’s new business will also maintain strong links to her former nursing career by supporting, with regular donations, the Respite and Recovery UK charity in Somerset that provides support packs to help patients undergoing chemotherapy to cope with the side effects and also provides breaks and days out for patients, families and carers.

Kristina said: “My years working as a nurse has taught me just how important a calm and ordered home environment can be for our health and happiness.  Our working and family lives have never been busier and more people than ever need a bit of help to keep things ticking over.

“My children are both older now and at university and college so I was looking for a fresh challenge and decided to take the plunge and set up my own business. At a time when the number of unemployed women is the highest it has ever been, it makes me very proud to be employing other local women who may have been through the same thing.”

Kristina was inspired to launch her franchise of Bright & Beautiful after discovering that a million more people are employing a cleaner compared with a decade ago, as increasingly busy workers decide they need to pay for domestic help.

The UK domestic cleaning sector has also grown by 91% in the last three years, which is largely attributed to the recession and more women going back to work, longer working days and busier single professionals.

Bright & Beautiful supports and empowers women both in the UK and overseas – clients who need their homes managed and don’t want to spend hours on housework; the team who have a great working environment and can earn a good income that fits within school hours and the impoverished families that the company sponsors overseas.
