Edible woodland for Milford estate?

SOUTH Somerset District Council is hoping to serve up something rather healthy for the Milford area of Yeovil – an edible woodland.Edible woodland for Milford estate?

The council is working with the Milford Community Group about planting an orchard area within the Milford Park.

A council spokesman said: “This would include a variety of fruit trees such as apples, plums, pears, quince and mulberries and a small selection of fruit bushes such as black and red currants.

“The local community would help to plant and manage this area. This project firmly supports the needs and aspirations of the community group and would enable them to expand their healthy living, eating and cooking programme.”

Members of Yeovil Town Council’s grounds and general maintenance committee will be meeting on Tuesday, January 7, to discuss the issue and to see if it would like to get involved financially.
