White powder closes Wilkinson's store

EMERGENCY services have this afternoon been dealing with an unidentified white powder found in a shop in Yeovil.

Earlier today police were informed that an envelope containing white powder had been opened in a private office in the Wilkinsons store at the bottom end of Lower Middle Street in Yeovil. The office has been isolated and the store closed.

The emergency services have put into place well-rehearsed plans for dealing with these incidents.

A police spokesman said: "There is no threat to the wider public but the shop has been closed as a precaution with public safety our primary concern."

Anyone with information about the powder should contact police on 101.
