Concern grows for missing Westland worker

CONCERN is continuing to grow for missing Somerton man Philip Eyre (pictured).Concern grows for missing Westland worker

Philip was last seen at 5.30pm on Wednesday, December 5, when he left his home in Somerton. He was reported missing the following morning and since then police have been conducting enquiries to locate Philip. These have so far been unsuccessful and officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who has seen him to contact them.

Philip's family, along with the police officers searching for him, are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare as his disappearance is out of character and because he is diabetic and it is not known if he has his medication.

Police officers and PCSOs are being supported by dog handlers, the police underwater team and Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue. Philip's colleagues at AugustaWestland in Yeovil are also assisting the search.

The car Philip was seen driving when he left, a silver Peugeot 206, was located in Charlton Mackrell on Thursday morning and despite a thorough search of the area he has not been discovered.

Philip is described as a 58-year-old white man, 6ft 2ins tall of medium build with dark brown cropped hair. He may have stubble on his face and usually wears glasses. When last seen he was wearing an orange T shirt with a dark blue gillet/waistcoat over the top.

Leading the search for Philip, Detective Chief Inspector Phil Jones said: "Philip has not been seen for five days now and we do not know if he has remained in the Somerset area or travelled further away.

"We are doing all we can to locate him and check he is safe and well and I would appeal to Phil, or anyone who has seen him since he went missing, to contact the police.

"Philip's family are understandably fraught with worry at the moment and we are providing support through a very difficult time for them. Please, if you know something get in touch."

If you have seen Phil please contact police straight away on 101.
