20mph speed limit bid in Yeovil fails to get out of first gear

A PROPOSAL to back a campaign to have a 20mph speed limit introduced into all residential areas of Yeovil has fallen on deaf ears.20mph speed limit bid in Yeovil fails to get out of first gear

Cllr Martin Bailey, of Yeovil Town Council, had wanted his colleagues to support his call in a bid to improve road safety.

“I propose that the town council is in favour of 20mph speed limits across all residential areas of Yeovil apart from the main arterial through routes,” he said.

But Cllr Bailey was left disappointed when his motion failed to obtain a seconder at last week’s town council meeting and that signalled the end of the discussion.

The county council has, however, confirmed that it is to carry out a review of its policy on 20mph speed limits in the future.
