Music in the Park hits right note for charity

YEOVIL Town Council organised a music spectacular and fireworks extravaganza at Yeovil Recreation Ground earlier this year to help celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Music in the Park hits right note for charity

Apprentices from AgustaWestland and others carried out a charitable collection during the event in aid of two charities – the Yeovil Hospital Special Care Baby Unit and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust.

Cllr Tony Lock, chairman of the Event Steering Group (pictured left),  presented a cheque for £808 to Captain David Cole, (pictured right), Director of Music of the Royal Marines Association Band, during a recent performance by the Band at the Octagon Theatre.

Cllr Lock said: “I am delighted to present this cheque to the Royal Marines Charitable Trust, on behalf of the people of Yeovil who attended the Music in the Park event and gave generously towards the two nominated charities.

''The money will go towards helping serving and retired Royal Marines and their dependants. I would also like to thank all those involved  for their kind assistance in carrying out the collection and helping to raise this magnificent sum.”

A similar amount will be donated to the Yeovil Hospital Special Care Baby Unit.
