At around 7.30am today (Monday, December 3) there was a burglary at a house in Freedom Avenue in Yeovil. A Dell laptop, Fuji Finepix camera, video camera and iPad were stolen. Some of the items taken contained photos of the victims' newborn boy. The baby has been in hospital since it was born and is extremely unwell so the photos are valuable to the family.

The burglary is being investigated and anyone who knows the whereabouts of the stolen property should contact police immediately.

John Lawrence, who with wife Michelle, are the baby's parents, said: "The photos mean the world to us. Our son is only five weeks old and was born with respiratory problems.

''He had to be flown to Glasgow for treatment and now he is back at Bristol still poorly but hopefully on the right road now. The photos are our only copies and are priceless. We just want the photos back, I'm not worried about the equipment. If you have it please hand it into the police station."

DC Scott Holland, who is investigating the incident, said: "The property taken contained some precious and irreplaceable photos of a newborn baby. The victims have enough to reckon with caring for an unwell baby without this theft compounding their misery.

''I would ask the person who took the equipment to examine their conscience and find a way to return the stolen property to us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Scott Holland on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org .
