A spokesman for Yeovil Press said: "We are delighted to welcome Luke Simon and the PSA aboard and we look forward to covering their news and events in the months ahead."

The PSA was formed following the tragic death of former Yeovil College student Piers Simon who was killed by the Asian tsunami while holidaying in Thailand which struck on Boxing Day 2004.

The appeal, which is led by Piers' brother Luke, has since gone on to raise more than £500,000 to help with projects around the world which have been hit by natural disasters.

An off-shoot of the PSA is the successful School in a Bag initiative which provides a bag and basic school equipment for children in poor countries around the globe.
