Remembering the Queen's visit to Yeovil

CHAIRMAN of South Somerset District Council, Cllr Mike Best, has helped the rangers at Yeovil Country park put the finishing touches to a tree and brass plaque that have been planted and fixed to commemorate the visit of Her Majesty the Queen earlier this year.

Remembering the Queen's visit to YeovilThe Queen visited Yeovil Country Park - more commonly known as Ninesprings - as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations in May where she was greeted by thousands of people and treated to a Diamond Jubilee Fayre that celebrated Somerset and Yeovil, its wildlife, heritage and industry.

The tree is a variety of English Oak and will take several hundred years to reach full maturity.   Remembering the Queen's visit to Yeovil

Cllr Mike Best said, “We wanted to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee visit by Her Majesty The Queen and felt that by fixing a plaque at one of the locations she toured would allow generations of residents to see where she visited..”
