Countdown to Christmas in Yeovil

THE Countdown to Christmas gets officially underway in Yeovil tomorrow (Thursday, November 15) with the official turning-on of the festive lights and it is understood that a well-known local couple will be among those flicking the switch.  

Owayne Ovenstone, 21, a lookalike of Hollywood actor Robert Pattinson, famous for his role in the vampire series Twilight, will be among the guests for the switch-on.

But it is understood that a Facebook campaign on a site called Yeovil Real News has also seen organisers ask veteran charity fundraisers Jim and Flo Essex to get involved and get the festive spirit underway.

Jim and Flo, of Yeovil, were recently among the prize winners at the Pride of Britain awards.

Entertainment will start in Middle Street, Yeovil, at 5pm with live acts appearing from around 5.30pm on stage in the Quedam Shopping Centre at about 5.30pm.

The switching-on of the lights will take place in the Quedam at around 6.30pm.
