A nation falls silentServices will take place across the country and a two-minute silence will be observed at 11am to signify the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when the guns stopped firing at the end of the First World War in 1918.

Today's main focus will be in London and the Cenotaph where the Queen will lay a wreath on behalf of the Royal Family and the nation.

A service will be held at the war memorial (pictured above left) in The Borough of Yeovil this morning, while similar Acts of Remembrance will be held across South Somerset at places including Chard and Crewkerne.

A Civic Service of Remembrance will be held this afternoon at Ilminster.
