YEOVIL NEWS: Motorbike enthusiasts rev up the thanks for the NHS

HUNDREDS of motorcyclists converged on Yeovil Town Football Club’s Huish Park stadium as part of a fundraising NHS Ride of Thanks.

The convoy of over 250 bikes of all shapes, makes and descriptions had set off on the morning of September 19 from just outside of Burnham-on-Sea and arrived at Huish Park at around lunchtime.

The riders each paid £5 to take part in the event with money being shared between Yeovil Freewheelers, better known as Blood Bikes, the Bristol equivalent to the Freewheelers, and the Air Ambulance.

A fantastic overall total of £2,524.98 was raised in the event with money shared out between the three groups.

Once the convoy had reached Huish Park the motorcyclists were able enjoy some welcome refreshments including ice cream.

Representatives of the Somerset NHS Ride of Thanks visited Yeovil District Hospital recently to present the Yeovil Freewheelers with a cheque for £841.66.
