YEOVIL NEWS: Runners and riders in Yeovil’s county council elections

NINETEEN candidates have put themselves forward to fight for the four Yeovil divisions at next month’s Somerset County Council election.

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, May 4, 2017, in the Yeovil Central Division, Yeovil East Division, Yeovil South Division and Yeovil West Division.

Anyone eligible to vote but not already on the electoral register has one week left to put that right - the deadline is midnight on Thursday, April 13, 2017.

You can do it online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by contacting your local district council.

The Yeovil line-ups at a glance are as follows:

Yeovil Central Division: Alan Ivor Dimmick, UK Independence Party; Alan Flint, Green Party; Andy Kendall, Liberal Democrats; Terry Lavin, Labour Party; Nick Rousell, Conservative.

Yeovil East Division: Godfrey Davey, UK Independence Party; Terry Ledlie, Labour; Tony Lock, Liberal Democrats; Neil James Mitchell, Independent; Teresa Sienkiewicz, Conservative.

Yeovil South Division: Dave Greene, Independent; Faye Purbrick, Conservative; Andy Soughton, Liberal Democrats; Diane Catherine Wood, Green Party; Christos Zaranis, Labour.

Yeovil West Division: Gail Freeman-Bell, Labour; Jane Lock, Liberal Democrats; John Richard Lukey, Conservative; Robert Charles Wood, Green Party.

Also being contested at the elections on May 4 will be the Brympton Division – which includes the Abbey Manor estate in Yeovil.

Five candidates will be vying for that division.

The Brympton Division at a glance is as follows:

Brympton Division: Sam Crabb, Liberal Democrats; Kek Long, Green Party; Dan Marks, Labour; Anthony Power, UK Independence Party; Josh Williams, Conservative.
