YEOVIL NEWS: Naked flower arranging for Yeovil ladies!

ADVENTUROUS Yeovil ladies attended a workshop on naked flower arranging recently at Combe St Nicholas village hall near Chard.

Amongst the beautiful scent of Spring flowers - and a lot of laughter - this upcoming trend was explained, then demonstrated step-by-step by their tutor.

Jackie Nicholls, from Somerset-based Ashville Design, who runs the workshops, said: “Naked flower arranging is flower arranging without the need for floral foam.

“Structures are made that can be used again and again, so although these take time to make, they are very cost effective and great fun in the process. Best of all, no-one needs any experience.”

During the workshops, each lady made a vase out of twigs. The rustic containers were then decorated and filled with their favourite Spring flowers, some of which had been flown in freshly cut from The Scilly Isles the day before.

Shirley Scott (pictured centre) said: “This was my first workshop. I was really pleased with the design I made even though I wished I’d brought more twigs! The workshop was very welcoming, friendly, relaxed and informative. Ten out of ten from me.”

Jackie added: “I was incredibly proud of everyone who attended these workshops. Apart from fun, friendship and flowers, the results were fabulous. Well done ladies!”
