SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Man assaulted on A303

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault on the A303 near Yeovil.

The incident happened on Saturday (February 18, 2017) at 11.20am on the A303 at the junction with the Sparkford roundabout.

A police spokesman said: “A grey Vauxhall Vivaro van and a blue BMW stopped on the road and an assault took place.

“The BMW driver, a man in his 60s, was seriously assaulted and had to be airlifted to hospital.

“The suspect then got back into his car and drove off towards Yeovil.”

The A303 was closed for an hour as a result of the incident.
