YEOVIL NEWS: Cards raise funds for St Margaret’s Hospice

FUNDS for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice have been raised by the selling of unique hand-made greetings cards for all occasions at RNAS Yeovilton.

Card-maker Liz Parsons, of Yeovil, started raising money for the hospice around ten years ago after her family discovered at first-hand the amazing work which goes on at St Margaret’s.

Christine Jones, who works at RNAS Yeovilton, was visiting the Old Mill accountants and financial planners in Yeovil when she saw some of Liz’s beautifully-crafted cards in the reception which were being sold in aid of St Margaret’s Hospice.

“I thought they were really good and asked about who had made them,” said Christine. “I was put in touch with Liz and it went from there.”

Liz, who used to work at Old Mill, said she took great pleasure from making the cards and helping to raise money for the hospice – so was thrilled when Christine got in touch.

“The cards have been very popular with people out at Yeovilton,” said Christine. “Although we’ve only been asking for donations some people have been really generous.

“The cards have come in very useful as well – it’s surprising how many people have come and bought a last-minute card for somebody.”

A total of £132.80 was raised at RNAS Yeovilton and was topped up with a further £20 donation.
