CHARD NEWS: Selma braves the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support

CHARD woman Selma Whitworth raised a whopping £1,050 for charity after having her long hair chopped off.

Selma has been delighted at the amount of money she has raised – with more coming in – with the head shave which was carried out on Sunday (September 4, 2016) at the Ye Old Poppe Inn at Tatworth during a family fun day.

“My hair was very long and I was sad to see it go,” said Selma. “But I’ve raised so much money it has been all so worthwhile.CHARD NEWS: Selma braves the shave for Macmillan Cancer Support

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported me.”

Selma had originally had a £500 target, but she has doubled that and people can still donate to the cause by going onto her online fundraising page at https://bravetheshave.org.uk/shavers/selma-whitworth/ .

The money will go towards the Brave the Shave initiative run by the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

“I wanted to raise money in memory of many loved ones who have died and in support of all my family and friends affected by cancer,” she said.

Selma will be donating her locks to an organisation that makes wigs for people who lose their hair while undergoing treatment for cancer.
