SOMERSET NEWS: Two-vehicle crash on the M5

EMERGENCY services were called out this afternoon (Monday, August 8, 2016) following a two-vehicle crash on the M5 motorway between Wellington and Taunton.

The alarm was raised at just after 3pm to the incident between Junctions 26-25 and two fire engines from Wellington and Taunton were mobilised along with a rescue tender.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “On arrival crews confirmed that one male was trapped inside one of the vehicles.

“Crews got to work using hydraulic cutting gear to extricate him onto a stretcher. Crews made the vehicles safe and left duty of care with paramedics and police.”

The spokesman added: “There was another road traffic collision on the motorway southbound between Junctions 25-26 at the same time.”
