THE achievements of staff at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton were recognised last Thursday (June 30, 2016) at the sponsored Musgrove Awards For Tremendous Achievement ceremony – better known as the MAFTAs.

More than 140 hospital staff came together at the MAFTAs to celebrate the outstanding achievements that have made a real difference to patients, fellow colleagues and the wider healthcare community over the last year.

The event was fully sponsored by IMS MAXIMS, provider of Musgrove’s electronic patient record system.

Dr Sam Barrell, chief executive at Musgrove Park Hospital, who attended the awards, said she felt inspired by all the staff who had been nominated for a MAFTA.

“I’m so proud of all the wonderful staff at Musgrove,” she said. “It was great to celebrate many examples of their outstanding work at the awards ceremony.

“It has been a challenging year for the NHS, but at Musgrove our patient care has continued to be truly outstanding, and this was recognised by the Care Quality Commission.

“Our staff  have helped to develop so many innovative ideas in the last year to greatly benefit the care of our patients.”

Shane Tickell, chief executive of IMS MAXIMS which sponsored the event, said: “The MAFTAs are a fantastic way to celebrate the tremendous achievements of staff at Musgrove Park Hospital and we were delighted to sponsor this year’s event.

“It has been an honour to work in partnership with many of the staff at the Trust over the last year as they continue on their incredible journey to continually improve patient services and care, including having recently become the first trust in the UK to implement an open source electronic patient record.”
