YEOVIL NEWS: Man arrested over suspicious incidents

POLICE are appealing for information following two suspicious incidents in Yeovil in which women were approached by a man.

In the first incident, a woman in her 60s was approached by a man in the Peter Street car park at approximately 3.10pm on Wednesday, June 8, 2016.

The man attempted to grab the woman by the arm before driving off in a small white hatchback.

In the second incident, a woman in her 20s and her daughter walked past a man sat in a small white hatchback on St Michael’s Avenue at approximately 3.15pm on Tuesday, 14 June.

The man repeatedly asked the woman questions before offering her and her daughter a lift. When the woman refused, he then followed her in his car until the junction of Sunningdale Road.

A police spokesman said: “In both incidents the man is described as black, aged in his 40s, of muscular built with short wavy black hair which was going grey.

“A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with both incidents and has been released on bail.”
