YEOVIL AREA NEWS: Four taken to hospital after crash on Cartgate link road

FOUR people were taken to hospital this afternoon (Monday, April 18, 2016) following a nasty crash on the Cartgate link road on the outskirts of Yeovil.

Two fire engines and a rescue tender from Martock and Yeovil were mobilised at just before 1.30pm to the incident on the A3088 road more commonly known as Cartgate.

Officers discovered a four-vehicle crash with three people trapped inside two of the vehicles.

Police, land ambulance and air ambulance paramedics were also in attendance and firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of one vehicle.

A second casualty was later removed from another vehicle and in total three people were taken to hospital in Yeovil by ambulance and another was taken to Bristol by air ambulance.

Firefighters made the vehicles safe, while duty of care was left with police at the scene.

The Cartgate road is currently closed to motorists.
