YEOVIL NEWS: Man arrested for attempted murder following stabbing

POLICE are investigating an incident in Yeovil in which a man suffered several stab injuries.

The victim was involved with an altercation with another man at the entrance to a block of flats in the Green Mead area of Yeovil at around 1.15am today (Sunday, January 31, 2016).

As a result, he suffered several stab injuries to his head and body and he is in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

A 28-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Det Insp Lee Jones said: “We’re carrying out a full inquiry to establish the facts surrounding this incident which has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.

“A man has been arrested and he’s in custody for questioning.

“We’re asking for the public’s help and would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard any part of this altercation, or anyone who saw a man running away from the Green Mead area between 1am and 1.30am.

“We know this will cause concern in the local community but I’d like to assure people we believe it to be an isolated incident involving people who know each other.

“There will be a continuing police presence in the local area as our enquiries are ongoing.”

Green Mead is located on the Abbey Manor estate.
