SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: ATM attack in Crewkerne

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a cash point machine was attacked in Crewkerne on New Year’s Day (Friday, January 1, 2016).

A man, wearing dark clothing, smashed a window to gain access to a cash machine at the Waitrose store before tying a wire rope around it.

A second person then attempted to pull the ATM out of the store using a vehicle.

The attack, which took place at 5.15pm, was unsuccessful and no cash was stolen.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who saw anything suspicious around the time, is asked to call 101 quoting crime reference number 5216000650.
