LEISURE: Sleeping Beauty smashes box office records at Octagon Theatre – oh yes it does!

THE 2015-16 production of Sleeping Beauty at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil proved to be a dream of a pantomime smashing box office records for the fourth consecutive year at the award-winning venue.

During the course of the 49 performances from December 4, 2015, to yesterday (Sunday, January 3, 2016) over 27,000 people attended the pantomime – this is the first time in the Octagon’s history that such a number of people have attended any one production.

The pantomime’s stunning effects, outstanding cast, beautiful sets and costumes and hilarious script quickly made it the hottest ticket in town selling to 90% capacity – yet another first for the Octagon Theatre.

The show was hailed as, ‘quite, quite brilliant’, ‘spectacular’ and ‘THE best’ by local media. Audiences from Somerset and beyond enjoyed the show in equal measure with hundreds of photos and videos from the show’s finale being shared on social media, accompanied by rave reviews which were shared online and with the theatre directly.LEISURE: Sleeping Beauty smashes box office records at Octagon Theatre – oh yes it does!
