SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Oyez, Oyez! Great views over Chard on the Ferris Wheel!

PEOPLE are getting fantastic bird’s eye views over Chard this evening (Saturday, July 18, 2015) – thanks to a one-night only Ferris Wheel - and the town crier has been shouting from the top of it!

Hundreds of people are taking the opportunity to climb aboard the wheel – nicknamed the Chard Eye – for the chance to see the town from above.

The event is part of the Summer Festival celebrations which have been organised by the Chard Town Team.

The Chard Eye is situated on the Crowshute Link which has been closed to traffic from its junction with High Street to the Sainsbury’s car park entrance.

Big crowds are congregating in the area to have their go on the wheel as well as enjoy other sidestalls and entertainment, plus live music with Goodnight Lois.

Chard town crier Stuart Cumming has also taken the opportunity in his very own style to give out his special booming “Chard Cry” from the top of the wheel and ringing his bell.

The Chard Eye will be available for people to have a ride on tonight (Saturday, July 18, 2015) until about 10pm.

The cost is £5 for adults and £3 for children.
