YEOVIL NEWS: Counting the cost of ladder theft

A TELEVISION aerial engineer in Yeovil has been counting the cost this week after thieves stole ladders from the roof of his car.

Lee Mapletoft discovered that the ladders had been taken sometime between 10.15pm on Monday (June 1, 2015) and 7am yesterday (Tuesday, June 2, 2015) morning from his car parked outside his home in Milford Road.YEOVIL NEWS: Counting the cost of ladder theft

“They had been securely fastened and strapped on with ladder clamps and padlocks,” he said. “They were a triple set of aluminium ladders worth £350.”

Lee, who started Yeovil Aerial Services in 2013, added: “It is so frustrating because not only have I now got to replace the ladders, which are obviously important for my work, but it has meant I have had to turn jobs down.”

The storm and high winds of Monday saw people around the Yeovil area suffer problems with damaged aerials and Lee was ready for an increase in work.

But Lee said: “Due to the theft of the ladders it meant I lost out on two jobs yesterday (Tuesday, June 2, 2015) and I’ve had to say “no” to another one today.”

The police have been notified of the theft an if anyone has any information – please contact officers on 101.
