YEOVIL NEWS: Nominations needed for Mayor's Award

THE Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Mike Lock, is looking for nominations for the annual Mayor’s Award.

As in previous years, an inscribed silver salver will be awarded to an individual or an organisation providing a worthwhile service to community, as a small token of recognition and thanks on behalf of the Mayor and the Town.

The winner will also have their name added to the Roll of Honour that is displayed in the Town House. The award is not intended for people who earn their living from their services but who provide a service out of the goodness of their hearts.YEOVIL NEWS: Nominations needed for Mayor's Award

Last year’s winner was Patricia Rendell who has given almost 50 years’ service to the Yeovil Branch of St John Ambulance.

Past recipients include Graham Voizey for his 36 years service with the Yeovil Boys Brigade, WRVS Yeovil Meals on Wheels service for their work in the local community and Ruth and Derek Lush for their years of service to the Salvation Army.

Cllr Lock said: “There must be lots of people in the Yeovil area who have not been publicly recognised for the work they do for the town.

“I would encourage people to take this opportunity to put forward the names of friends or organisations who selflessly undertake good work for Yeovil.”

Those nominated need not actually live in Yeovil, but must be active within the town.

The closing date for nominations for the 2015 Award is Friday, May 1, 2015, and they should be sent to Alan Tawse, Town Clerk, Yeovil Town Council, Town House, 19 Union Street, Yeovil, Somerset BA20 1PQ. Alternatively people can email ytc@yeovil.gov.uk .
