YEOVIL NEWS: Hospital staff reach final of Student Nursing Times Awards

STAFF at Yeovil District Hospital are celebrating reaching the final of the national Student Nursing Times Awards.

The Trust has been shortlisted for the Partnership of the Year category in recognition of their innovative and collaborative relationship with Bournemouth University.

Nursing students at the university undertake their acute nursing placements at Yeovil Hospital, which also delivers clinical skills education throughout the three year course. The hospital also liaises closely with community and other placement providers to ensure that students are placed appropriately.YEOVIL NEWS: Hospital staff reach final of Student Nursing Times Awards

The hospital’s practice educator, Ed Moore, said: “We’re really pleased to have made the shortlist for this award.

“We consistently get great feedback from our students about our clinical skills training and the support we offer them.

“We pride ourselves on getting to know our students, following them from initial careers days to offering them the chance to start their nursing career here at the end of their studies.”

Ed added: “We’re also fortunate to enjoy a really productive working relationship with the team at Bournemouth University, who allow us to contribute actively to curriculum planning and placement allocation.

“We’d like to thank everyone at the University for their continued support in helping us give our students the best possible preparation for their future careers in nursing.”

Yeovil’s entry has been entitled Blurring the Lines. Winners of the award will be announced at a ceremony at the Hilton, Park Lane, on May 7, 2015.
