YEOVIL NEWS: AgustaWestland graduates pedal up the miles for British Heart Foundation

A TEAM of eight AgustaWestland graduates have raised over £16,000 for the British Heart Foundation by cycling more than 800 miles.

The grouped pedalled from AgustaWestland’s Cascina Costa facility in Italy to Yeovil.

The team of cyclists left Cascina Costa, in Northern Italy, on September 13 last year and arrived in Yeovil 12 days later. The route saw them ride over the Alps into Switzerland then across France before catching a ferry to England for the final leg to Yeovil, covering an estimated distance of 810 miles.

Ben Johnson, one of the graduates taking part in the cycle ride, said: “Each year the graduates at AgustaWestland carry out a community project and we are delighted to have raised over £16,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

“The money raised will support the British Heart Foundation with their work in the areas of research, education, care and awareness of cardiovascular health.”YEOVIL NEWS: AgustaWestland graduates pedal up the miles for British Heart Foundation

To help raise money for the British Heart Foundation and awareness of the charity cycle ride several static bike ride fundraising events were performed in Exeter, Yeovil, Cardiff, Southampton, Bath and Bournemouth.

The graduates will also be visiting local schools using their gained experience to inspire children to stay active, live healthily and look after their hearts.

AgustaWestland supported the graduates Project Cycle by providing transport to Italy and covering other costs whilst sponsorship and donations were pledged by big and small companies including Brittany Ferries, DB Schenker, Hertz, Lam-Art Exhibition & Display and Juice Lubes.
