YEOVIL NEWS: Good Samaritans thanked for helping motorbike crash victim

A YEOVIL man has thanked the Good Samaritans who came to his rescue after he was involved in a motorbike crash.

Dan Walsh was riding his Zontes Tiger 125 on his way to the main Tesco store in Yeovil on Friday (January 23, 2015) evening at just after 5.30pm when the rear tyre span out on the main hospital roundabout and threw him off.

“The road didn’t seem slippy, but as I accelerated into Queensway the rear tyre span out and the bike chucked me off,” he told the Yeovil Press.

“As I stumbled to the floor I remember smelling petrol and the engine was still running, but I couldn’t move.”

Dan added: “Five people jumped from their cars to help me and see I was ok. One lady asked me if there was anything she could do – so I told her to turn the bike’s engine off to stop it from exploding!YEOVIL NEWS: Good Samaritans thanked for helping motorbike crash victim

“Then all I remember is the ambulance, fire and police turning up. Being in shock I just remember laying there while these people who helped me waited for the ambulance to arrive.”

Dan was taken to hospital where he was treated for a number of injuries including major tissue damage around his neck and spine, and whiplash.

The 22-year-old works as a full-time carer at the Hendford Care Home in Yeovil and will be returning to work on Wednesday (January 28, 2014).

But he would definitely like to say a BIG THANK YOU to those people who stopped and came to his aid following the accident.

“I’ve found out that Sharon Munckton stopped to thank and I’d like to thank her so much,” he said. “Hopefully the others that stopped will read this and I’d like to thank them as well – they’ll know who they are.”

Dan has received a number of “best wishes” messages on social networking Facebook and he would like to thank them for their kindness as well.
