CHRISTMAS 2014: Peter Andre thanks hospital staff

TELEVISION presenter and singer Peter Andre brought some festive cheer to Musgrove Park Hospital when he attended its Christmas Wish Tree event.

He met with delighted staff and thanked them for all the hard work they do for patients at the Taunton-based hospital during the event held earlier this month.

The event was an overwhelming success, with Peter and the hospital’s chief executive Jo Cubbon hosting the festivities. Together they entertained the crowd and spoke about the purpose of the Christmas Wish Tree, which is intended for patients, staff and visitors to post their Christmas wishes in return for a donation to Love Musgrove, the hospital’s charity.

This was followed by Peter writing a wish that was placed on the Christmas Wish Tree before he took time to meet and greet staff and patients, chatting and taking photos. Christmas Carols were sung by the wonderfully talented singers from Apple County Chorus Choir.

The evening ended with mince pies provided by Whitlock’s restaurant which provides catering within the hospital.

Peter said: “It’s lovely to see so many of you here this evening, thank you for having me.CHRISTMAS 2014: Peter Andre thanks hospital staff

“I have a really great relationship with MusgroveP ark Hospital, and it’s amazing to be in the hospital’s new JubileeBuilding. All the funds raised tonight at this Christmas Wish Tree event will go to making a better environment for the hospital, and every penny helps.

What you guys do here every day is amazing, so I should be thanking you, not you thanking me.”

Musgrove’s chief executive Jo Cubbon said: “We are thrilled that Peter could join us to celebrate our Christmas Wish Tree event.

“It is so humbling to read all the messages posted by patients, staff and visitors alike and wonderful that we could celebrate the festive season in such a lovely way with our staff and thank them for all their hard work, particularly during this very busy time of year.”

Love Musgrove is Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust’s Charitable Funds. The aim of Love Musgrove is to make a difference to patients by funding additional equipment and training that would not normally be provided through NHS funding. Every penny raised at last night’s event will be used to benefit patients, visitors and staff.

Special thanks go to Sedgwick Sound Systems, Apple County Chorus Choir and to Willowbrook Nurseries for kindly donating the Christmas tree.
