CHRISTMAS 2014: Santa Dash and lights switch-on in Chard

CHARD town centre was overflowing with Father Christmas characters on Friday (November 28, 2014) evening for the second-ever Santa Dash.

The run around town dressed in the Santa’s traditional red and white outfit was all part of the festive activities organised to accompany the switching-on of the Christmas lights.CHRISTMAS 2014: Santa Dash and lights switch-on in Chard

There were various sideshows for people to enjoy, while there was a craft fair inside the Guildhall.

Kelly Leigh School of Dance was on hand to lead a warm-up session for the Santa Dash participants.

Later there was some Zumba dancing and the Mayor, Cllr Jenny Kenton, and town crier, Stuart Cumming, were more than keen to join in.

Father Christmas arrived at the Guildhall thanks to the Eclipse Carnival Club and he helped to turn on the festive lights along with the Mayor, Carnival Royalty and members of the Calendar Girls team.
