SOMERSET NEWS: Four taken to hospital from house fire
FOUR people were taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning (Friday, November 7, 2014) following a fire at a home in Somerset.
The alarm was raised at just before 1am to the incident in Highbridge Road, Burnham-on-Sea.
Four fire engines attended the scene along with police officers and ambulance paramedics.
They discovered that a small outbuilding, attached to the main property, was on fire.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman told the Yeovil Press that 85 per cent of lean-to building was damaged by fire, while the adjoining kitchen suffered five per cent fire damages as did a section of roof.
“The rest of the property was slightly smoke damage,” he added. “The cause was undeterminable.”
The spokesman added: “Four people were taken to hospital for precautionary checks after being evacuated by Fire Service personnel.”
