YEOVIL NEWS: Store plans for Fleur De Lys pub submitted to council

THE Southern Co-operative has submitted a planning application to the council to turn the former Fleur De Lys pub in Yeovil into a store.

The company has asked South Somerset District Council for planning permission to carry out external alterations at the site of the pub on the corner of St Michael’s Avenue with Mudford Road.

This external work would include the building of a single-storey rear extension along with the replacement of an external staircase, infilling of the front porch area to building, construction of a pedestrian access ramp and new hard standing area for extra car parking spaces and delivery bay.

The Southern Co-operative has said that the proposed new store could generate up to 18 jobs for the area.

The news comes just over a week after Cllrs Jon Gleeson and Pauline Lock, of South Somerset District Council, met with pub-users and local people about the sudden closure of the pub.

Planning permission is NOT required by The Southern Co-operative to turn the pub building into a shop, but for external alterations only.
