YEOVIL NEWS: Bloomin’ brilliant community spirit shines for Ethan

WET weather failed to dampen the enthusiasm of supporters and volunteers at the official opening of a very special garden for a very special little boy in Yeovil.

Pub regulars at The Beehive in Huish have worked tirelessly to transform the garden at the home of Naomi Grosvenor and her young son, Ethan Joyce, who is living with a rare genetic disorder called ARX.YEOVIL NEWS: Bloomin’ brilliant community spirit shines for Ethan

Ethan uses a walking frame and needs constant care and when the kind-hearted locals at The Beehive heard about him they decided they wanted to help and make a difference.

Ethan likes being outdoors, but his back garden at home in Larkhill Road was not ideal for him.

So the pub-regulars at the Beehive rolled up their sleeves, got out their spades and shovels and became Yeovil’s very own Groundforce team.

They have transformed the overgrown garden with decking, grassed areas and raised flower beds.

And it was on Saturday (October 4, 2014) that they were able to pass the completed garden over to a delighted Naomi.

She said the garden would be a “place where Ethan can learn and grown and enjoy the outside like all other children.”

“An incredible team from the Beehive have transformed our garden and we are so overwhelmed by their help and hard work,” said Naomi on social networking Facebook. “We cannot thank them enough.”

The Beehive team would like to thank everyone for their support including the likes of GJS Landscapes, Travis Perkins, White Post, Watermarque, Greensleeves Nurseries, Yeovil Hire Centre, Western Decorating Supplies and Mole Valley – plus everyone else who may inadvertently been missed off the list.

Ethan and his mum were recently seen on daytime TV and the BBC programme, Saints and Scroungers, hosted by Matt Allwright. Naomi spoke about ARX and the care Ethan needed and the support they received from BIBIC.
