The pub, which stands in the prominent position on the junction of Mudford Road with St Michael’s Avenue, closed earlier this week and the windows and doors were boarded up leading to speculation among people about its future.

But the Yeovil Press has just been told this afternoon (Friday, October 3, 2014) that the pub is set to become a Co-op store.

A Punch Taverns spokesman said: “We can confirm that we have entered into a lease agreement with Southern Co-op for the Fleur De Lys.

“They have submitted a main planning application and applications for signage, plant and licence will go in shortly.”

The Fleur De Lys was built in the mid-1950s to serve the Mudford Road and St Michael’s Avenue area.

News of its imminent end means that time has been called on another of Yeovil’s long-established pubs.
