YEOVIL COLLEGE NEWS: Backing hospital scanner appeal

YEOVIL College staff past and present have today (Thursday, September 25, 2014) handed over cheques worth £1,300 to Yeovil District Hospital.

The money will go towards the hospital’s ongoing CT scanner appeal.

More than £680 came from a charity cookbook appeal, the brainchild of Debbie Guppy, while Level 1-2 business students raised £300 through enterprise projects.

The final donation came from former college business lecturer Lorraine Dash and sister Vickie Joslin on behalf of their family. Their cheque for £330 was presented in memory of their mother, who received treatment at the hospital.

A college spokesman said: “A big thank you to everyone who supported these inspirational fundraisers.”

Yeovil Hospital needs to raise £100,000 to buy and install a second CT scanner. A CT scanner is a critical piece of equipment in a whole range of situations.

They are used for patients of all ages and are particularly critical for stroke patients, cancer patients and patients who have suffered a major trauma.
