SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: New role for Ferne's Jenny

THE former director of a South Somerset animal sanctuary has taken on a new role within the charity.

Jenny Wheadon has become Ferne Animal Sanctuary’s first-ever head of external funding. She has been with Ferne for 28 years with 23 of those as director.

But as the Sanctuary at Wambrook, near Chard, is evolving, the requirement for research and development of corporate and more productive funding areas has increased.SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: New role for Ferne's Jenny

Jenny will now be responsible for seeking out new and exciting opportunities to solicit legacies and grant funding as well as considering other innovative revenue streams.

“I am delighted,” said Jenny. “More of my time will be spent networking away from the Sanctuary meaning that I will not be available to oversee operational matters, therefore, Patricia Gardner-Harper will be taking over those duties until a new director/general manager is recruited.”

Ferne Animal Sanctuary recently launched their £1m project “New Digs for Dogs” to build a new enhanced kennel block, improved grooming and veterinary care room, information hub, social unit, offices, reception and purpose built rehoming centre at their site in Somerset.

Fundraising packs for the appeal and details of how to donate can be obtained by calling Ferne Animal Sanctuary on 01460-65214 or by visiting www.ferneanimalsanctuary.org or by simply clicking on the Ferne Animal Sanctuary logo-advert on the right-hand side of this website.
