SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Bonfire gets out of control at Stoke

FIREFIGHTERS were called out this evening (Sunday, August 24, 2014) to deal with a bonfire which had got out of control in Stoke-sub-Hamdon.

One fire engine from Martock was mobilised at just after 5.30pm to the incident in the garden of a home in Kings Road.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service told the Yeovil Press: “On arrival crews found 20 metres of hedgerow and several fencing panels alight covering two gardens.

“A garden shed was also well alight and a garage close to the shed was affected.”

The spokesman added: “Hedge, fence panels, shed and garage sustained considerable damage by fire.”
