YEOVIL NEWS: New and improved bus service from South West Coaches

SOUTH West Coaches are pleased to announce a greatly improved and streamlined bus service network within Yeovil as of next week.

In 2013 the Yeovil-based firm received the news that additional subsidies were being cut which would affect some of its current services.

But a company spokesman said: “We decided that now was the time to restructure our services within Yeovil and the surrounding areas.

“Our aim when restructuring was and is to provide a more reliable service to the community with increased frequency, the ability to cross link journey’s utilising our existing bus routes and to provide a cashless way to travel using our own bespoke Smart Card.

“We also introduced vehicle tracking on our buses which allows us to see where are vehicles are at any time of the day.”

The changes will come into force on August 26, 2014.

ALTERATIONS: Number 11 service serving Abbey Manor Park, Larkhill Road etc. has been altered. The new route will no longer serve Brympton or Asda - it will continue on its existing route into the Borough and Bus Station. Due to the alteration South West Coaches are pleased to announce the frequency has increased to a half-hourly service. In addition passengers will be transported in a brand new super low floor Optare Solo vehicle.

NEW: Service number 10. South West Coaches have introduced a new half-hourly service which will operate from the Bus Station entering Stiby Road via Ilchester Road serving Westfield Grove, Westfield Road, Coronation Avenue, Elliotts Drive, Wessex Road, Larkhill Road and Springfield Road.

TIMING ADJUSTMENT: Service 12. South West Coaches have made slight alterations to the timings, these changes have been made to allow for through journeys and linking with other town services.

The spokesman added: “Crosslinking is now even easier with our amended and newly introduced services, our passengers will now have the flexibility to travel on all of our service buses from areas as far afield as Shepton Mallet and South Petherton.

“Once you have hopped on one of South West Coaches buses you will be able to continue on your journey with the least amount of delay as possible.”
