 EXAM RESULTS 2014: Westfield Academy celebrates fantastic results

STUDENTS at Westfield Academy in Yeovil have been celebrating today (Thursday, August 21, 2014) after receiving excellent exam results.

Schools in England have been told by exams regulator OfQUAL to expect big variations in their GCSE results because of the largest set of changes for several years.

Despite this, students at Westfield achieved the school’s second best-ever exam results, including particularly strong performances in English and maths.

Top academic performers at Westfield include Kav Alagiyawanna with five A*, six A and three B grades.

Katie Charlton gained four A* and seven A grades; Jack Pitts four A*, six A and three B grades; Hannah Wheeler received three A*, eight A and two Bs; Alice Lester got three A*, seven A and three Bs; and Millie Carver gained three A*, six A and two Bs.EXAM RESULTS 2014: Westfield Academy celebrates fantastic results

Other results saw Grace Horder gain two A*, five A and one B grades, plus a distinction in business studies; Louise Cannon gained two A*, three A and seven Bs; Jamie Wright got two A*, two A and four Bs; and Esther Afikiruweh gained three A*, one A and three Bs along with distinction in business studies.

Josh Wilde receive two A*, two A and eight B grades; Matthew Atkins gained two A*, one A and six Bs; Gemma Walker one A*, seven A and two Bs; Elizabeth Ferro gained one A*, six A and three Bs; Kevin Chan gained one A*, six A and one B and a distinction in business studies; while Ho Tak Yip gained one A*, four A and two B grades.

Westfield principal Chris Hunt said: “Our students work very hard indeed and thoroughly deserve everything they have achieved.

“I would like to thank my staff for the tremendous job they do working alongside our students to ensure each and every one of them achieves their full potential.

“With some results still to be confirmed, these are likely to be among the best-ever at WestfieldAcademy and reflect the school’s continuing improvement.”

The school achieved a 75 per cent in English language for students achieving C grade or better; maths 65 per cent; chemistry and physics both gaining 92 per cent.
