SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Barn goes up in flames

FIREFIGHTERS have been working throughout the afternoon and evening today (Monday, August 11, 2014) following a barn fire near Yeovil.

The alarm was raised at just before 2.30pm to the incident at a farm in Fairhouse Road, Barwick, where a barn packed with straw was well alight.

Two fire engines from Yeovil were initially mobilised and on arrival officers asked for a further three crews to be sent for from Crewkerne and Yeovil along with a water carrier and an incident command unit.

The incident was ongoing at 6.30pm this evening with relief crews arriving to carry on the work.
