SOMERSET NEWS: Canal rescue drama

FIREFIGHTERS had to rescue a person this morning (Thursday, July 31, 2014) who was stuck in the water of the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal.

It was just after midnight when the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of a person in the canal at Albert Street, Bridgwater.

Two fire engines and a specialist rescue team from Bridgwater were mobilised and on arrival officers found one male in the canal.

A Fire Service spokesman told the Yeovil Press: “One male youth was rescued from the canal using water rescue equipment and was placed in the hands of the Ambulance Service to be assessed.”
