YEOVIL NEWS: Man hit by car after telling driver to pick up litter

A MAN was hit by a car after he had complained to the driver about dropping litter at a rugby club on the outskirts of Yeovil.

Police are now appealing for witnesses about the incident which happened at about 12.25pm on Monday (July 7, 2014) at the Ivel Barbarians club – now known as Yeovil RFC - off of Dorchester Road.

An altercation took place when a member of staff raised concerns with the driver of a car who had dropped litter near to the entrance of the club.YEOVIL NEWS: Man hit by car after telling driver to pick up litter

A police spokesman told the Yeovil Press: “The driver was abusive towards the club official and as he walked towards the gate, the driver accelerated towards him, driving his car into the man’s legs, causing him to fall over. The injured man declined and ambulance.”

The driver of the car - a blue/grey modern saloon car – is described as a white man in his early 20s with blond wavy hair. He was wearing a white T-shirt and grey tracksuit bottoms.

A passenger in the car was described as a white woman in her early 20s with long black hair. 

The police spokesman added: “We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident who may have seen the car, to contact us.”
