SOMERSET NEWS: Basement flat fire

TWO fire engines were called out last night (Monday, June 23, 2014) to deal with a fire at a Somerset home.

The alarm was raised at just before 7.15pm to the incident at The Esplanade in Burnham-on-Sea.

Two fire engines from Burnham were mobilised and firefighters found a basement flat to be heavily smoke-logged.

They discovered a fire involving a cooker and dealt with the situation.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “The cause was accidental.”
